What Happened on this Day in LDS Church History?
On this day in 1979, the church receives the title to the Newel K. Whitney Store in Kirtland, Ohio. Newel K. Whitney served as Second Presiding Bishop of the Church. He also served as bishop in Kirtland, Ohio; Farr West, Missouri; and Nauvoo, Illinois. The Newel K. Whitney store in Kirtland served the community, served as the first Bishop's Store House, and most importantly, the upper rooms were used as the School of the Prophets.
