What Happened On This Day In LDS Church History? 
On this day in LDS Church History in 1847, the Mormon Battalion makes it to San Diego, and arrive at the oldest Spanish mission in California- the San Diego de Alcalá Mission. They had left their families on the plains, when requested to do so. Their families had traveled on, to the great Salt lake Basin, without them.The Mormon Battalion traveled about 1850 miles to San Diego and it had taken them 103 days.
