What Happened on this Day in LDS Church History? On this Day in LDS Church History, in 1832 Joseph Smith preached a Sabbath Sermon. This was after being tarred and feathered the night before and after having the tar and feathers scrapped from his skin. Some in attendance at the meeting were part of the mob the night before. Joseph ended up baptizing three who were at the meeting.

What Happened on this Day in LDS Church History?  On this Day in LDS Church History in 1832, Joseph Smith Jr. and Sidney Rigdon were tarred and feathered by a mob of 50 men in Hiram, Ohio. Joseph Smith had been caring for his son Joseph, who was sick with the measles when the mob took Joseph from the Johnson home. Little Joseph died within days due to complications resulting from exposure to cold, the night of the tar and feathering of his father.

What Happened On This Day In LDS Church History? On this day in LDS Church History, in 1833, Joseph Smith completed the translation of the New Testament. On 2 February 1833, in Kirtland, Ohio, the Prophet recorded in his journal: “I completed the translation and review of the New Testament on the 2nd of February, 1833, and sealed it up, no more to be opened till it arrived in Zion.” (History of the Church, 1:324)
